A mother was killed and her three sons seriously injured after a rollover crash in Eastern Utah on Sunday, November 16, 2014 according to the Deseret News reported.

At around 2:40 p.m., the passenger-side rear tire of a F-150 pick-up truck that the woman was driving went flat while traveling on I-70 near Thompson Springs, approximately 40 miles north of Moab. The vehicle drifted towards the median and rolled multiple times. The mother was pronounced dead on the spot. Her three sons, aged 7, 12, and 14, sustained serious injuries and were transported by helicopter to St. Mary’s Hospital in Colorado.

The cause of the tire failure is unknown. Meanwhile, a statement released by the Utah Highway Patrol said that although occupants were strapped in when the incident happened, the driver and her 14-year-old son were ejected during the crash. It was not clear whether the seatbelts were defective or not worn properly or if they failed to function.
