A single-vehicle rollover on County Road 13 in Union County, South Dakota resulted in the fatal injury of one man, the Yankton Daily reported on January 6.

According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, 67-year-old Lee Wayne Thormodsgaard of Alcester was driving a 1994 Jeep Cherokee westbound when he veered off the road and into a ditch, causing the vehicle to roll over. The accident occurred just four miles east of Alcester. The road was covered with snow when the accident happened. Although both the Union County Sheriff’s Office and Hawarden Fire and Rescue responded to the crash, Thormodsgaard succumbed to his fatal injuries.

No other information about the underlying causes of the crash was available; however, the South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the event. It was determined that Thormodsgaard was strapped in with a safety belt when the accident happened.

The legal team at the Auto Defects extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family affected by this great loss.
