Geneseo school bus rollover sends 11 children to hospital

A single bus rollover at the interchange of I-80 and I-88 on Thursday morning, February 26, injured eleven children, according to a report by KWQC.
According to the authorities, 42-year-old middle school teacher Carissa A. Hanson was driving a mini-bus from Geneseo westbound when she hit a patch of ice on the road, causing the bus to rollover on its side at around 8:40 a.m. Reports said 11 kids were on board, five of whom needed to be extricated by emergency crews. All eleven students and the driver were rushed to Genesis Medical Center-Illini for non-life-threatening injuries.
Hanson was cited for failure to reduce speed when needed. She and all of the students have been discharged from the hospital.
